Ideation / Concept
We start by understanding your idea - the vision. The clearer the vision the stronger the foundation of the entire process. With decades of experience and specialist knowledge we develop the functional requirements of the concept. This gives us insight into the necessary steps to overcome each constraint.
Specification
The engineers determine a set of qualitative and quantitative specifications (design parameters) - a definitive set of facts. This can be a daunting task as it may involved advanced calculations and 'catch-22 type' situations are common. For the less experienced, this is where a wealth of knowledge and experience finds a delicate balance when trading off materials properties, functionality and cost, etc.
CAD
Computer Aided Design is a broad category encompassing many different tools and methods. Whether it be mechanical components, circuit boards, piping, etc - most modern processes require the various components to have been modeled already. This is useful in verifying correct fitment, process limitations and BOMs. Another useful benefit of CAD is being able to visualize the end product without having to build a physical prototype.
